The death-defying ‘The Blade’ ends up injuring himself in every one of his acts, much to the delight and laughter of the onlookers, and the beautiful Eugenia, who had previously been Sophisticato’s father’s assistant, reaches an untimely and rather gaudy end, being sawn in half! The magicians are playfully assisted by the fake German duo, Bar and Spitzmaus, who sparkle throughout in their dazzling costumes. (editor’s note – word removed) Mickey is the Mind Mangler’s sidekick, who acts as the audience plant and, adorned in several disguises throughout the evening, volunteers to participate in the Mind Mangler’s acts which, inevitably, go wrong! The two elicit audience participation in a ridiculous and humorous manner, highlighting the ineptitude of the Mind Mangler to the guffaws of the spectators. Sophisticato is joined by the ‘Mind Mangler’, a second-rate clairvoyant who is plagued by a mischievous teleprompt feeding him rude lines, including “The time has come for me to reveal….my xxxxx!”. Sam plays this character with such gusto and energy, warming our hearts with his plight whilst also enthralling us with his magic and having us in stitches with his mishaps. Sophisticato, as a child, was not permitted by his father to dabble in magic and, now being in possession of his father’s wand, is relishing in the freedom to perform his magic tricks. The band is led by Sophisticato (played by Sam Hill), whose magician father has recently passed away due to an accident involving a large number of magical props falling through the ceiling. Their thrilling show ‘Magic Goes Wrong’, co-written with Penn and Teller, the world-famous comedy magician duo, presents a band of misfortunate magicians who are staging a magic show to raise funds for the charity ‘Disasters in Magic’, to commemorate all those who have lost their limbs or lives due to mishaps with magical acts. I stand by this addition to Marked’s feature set. Even if this feature rarely gets used, it will never get in anyone’s way, plus it was fun to code. When that line scrolls to the center of the window, it will pause for the specified number of seconds before continuing autoscroll. But if you write your scripts in Markdown (or just plain text) and would like the autoscroll to pause at certain points, you can just add (where 15 is any number of seconds) in the document. If autoscroll is an unknown feature that few people will use, then this is a truly obscure one that will probably only be just for me. As of version 2.5.41 (out for Paddle and Setapp customers, awaiting MAS review), you can add pauses to your script. (You can also click and drag on the meter that appears in the lower left of the screen.) That’s all there is to it. Use left and right arrows to speed up/slow down the scroll speed. That will start autoscroll at the slowest speed.
Once you have the theme, you can start prompting just by hitting the ‘s’ key in a Marked preview.

Just visit the page on your Mac and hit “Install” to add it directly to Marked. The first step is to get the Teleprompter theme from the style gallery. With the right style and the built-in autoscroll feature, it makes a serviceable replacement for some of the (often spendy) teleprompter apps out there. I first started using Marked as a teleprompter for screencasting back in 2013.
